Come and Play!

Thursday, August 6 through Monday, August 10, 2009.

You can choose you own dates! Come for 2, 3 or 4 nights!

Up to 88 hours of crop & craft time!

Start cropping and crafting at 8:00 Thursday morning, and stay as late as Midnight Monday!

You will have your own craft and crop area that is yours for the weekend. Leave your stuff set up all weekend in our private scrapbooking suite! You can craft and crop all night long if you wish!

  • Use of scrapbooking tools. Cricut, punches, cutters… available around the clock. We will also have a store set up including paper, tapes, glue, embellishments and other fun stuff available for you to purchase if needed.

Deposit, Cancellations and Final Payments

For those wishing to join us, we need to confirm reservations with the hotel and in order to do that we will need your non-refundable deposit of $100 by Monday, June 15, 2009. Please email us at craftandcrop@gmail.com to request a registration packet. If you have any special room requests be sure and let us know. Balance in full due by Thursday, July 9, 2009 and get $10 in Craft & Crop Cash. All accounts must be paid in full by Thursday, July 23, 2009 to avoid a $25 late fee.

Hotel


We are staying at the amazing JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort and Spa. This 5 Star resort is one of the nicest in California. Included in the price of this event is a hotel resort fee that includes: unlimited self-parking (for as many cars as you want per room), in room internet access, local calls, evening refresh, golf club storage, daily newspaper, boat rides, fitness center and tennis courts. Starbucks is located in the Hotel Lobby!

Classes

This is where we are different than most scrapbook retreats! Not only will we have all the traditional scrapbook supplies and ideas, but we will also have other craft classes! So even if you are not a scrapbooker, come and play and make some terrific crafts that you will treasure for years to come!


Reflections Journaling Class

If you’re ready for some self-reflection and serenity, this is the class for you. Create a simple journal for recording your thoughts, goals, ideas, and more. Then head over to the fabulous Spa at Desert Springs with Tami to participate in a Mind & Body Yoga class that includes flexibility training, meditation, and relaxation. After yoga, linger at your leisure. Rejuvenate and replenish your spirit in the tranquility of the spa amenities such as steam room, sauna, and quiet pool. Be sure to spend some introspective time writing in your journal.

Bring: trimmer, adhesive, scissors, pen, swimsuit.


Wear: comfortable yoga clothes.


Cost: TBA. Class length: 1 hour/journal, 1 hour/yoga, +unlimited spa time for the day – you may never want to leave!


**Class includes a full day spa pass and one yoga class. Other spa services such as massage or beauty treatments are not included in class price, but can be reserved at additional cost directly through the spa. Robes, lockers, towels, and toiletries are provided at the spa.


USA Block Letters

The perfect addition to you summer decorations! This is a fun and EASY project for crafting beginners. You can bling it up as much as you choose!

Custom Card Collection
Taught by Mitzi McBride

The basis of the Custom Card Collection is to provide someone (or yourself!) with a stack of 8 beautiful cards, all with a special blank spot for one of a variety of white mailing labels all with various sentiments. The Custom Card Collection comes with a storage box. It's all about the presentation and quick & easy prep work when it comes to projects like this. I promise you, it couldn't be any easier than this, and the final look is like something from your favorite stationery boutique! It is a memorable (and practical) gift! There will be a variety of Paper patterns to choose from.

Celebrate every Birthday in your home with this darling Birthday Banner. Make it a tradition… or use it as a gift! In this class you will make a paper and ribbon birthday banner. Bright, Bold Colors, Yellow, Blue, Red, Green and Orange. Fun and Festive!

Let’s Go to the Movies! Ticket Keeper
Taught by Tami Morrison

This project gets two thumbs up for cleverness! You’ll use the Bind It All system to put together a keepsake album for rating movies you’ve seen and saving your ticket stubs. Great for yourself or as a gift for your favorite movie buff.

Card Bundle

In this class you will make and take home 5 beautiful handmade cards and one money notebook and box. Send your love ones more then a gift. Send them a piece of art. Keep in touch the old fashioned way. We will be making one of each of the cards in the photo above plus one surprise card along with the money book and box pictured above. The money book is a fun and creative way to give cash.

Trio of Boxes

In this class we will lean how to make 3 easy yet darling boxes to hold goodies for your friends and families. They can be used for holidays, gifts and just because. The first box we will make is the nugget box. This box holds 6 Hershey’s Nuggets. The second container we will make is the Sour Cream Container. A picture is worth 1,000 words. See the photo above. These are so cute and so easy! The ones in this photo are filled w/ M&M’s. The third box we will make is a small box that holds four 4 oz Round Clear Top Tins perfectly. You can fill the tins with ice cream toppings, jewelry, or candies. There will be a variety of Paper patterns to choose from.

Advent Calendar

What kind of advent calendar did you grow up with? In this class we will make a Christmas advent calendar using a 24 cup mini muffin tin and magnetic paper. Hide your kid’s favorite candy inside to count down the days of Christmas. The beautiful thing about this decoration is that it takes up very little storage space. You can remove and store the magnetic covers and then use the muffin tin for mini muffins or mini brownie bites the rest of the year. Paper patterns may be different due to availability.

Journaling Notebook

Wish you could remember that cute thing junior said yesterday? Ever found yourself scrounging around for something to write on? Be ready to capture your thoughts wherever you go with this cute, purse-sized notepad. You'll mix & match a variety of fun papers and bind them into a handy, environmentally friendly notebook. Jot notes in style, with the option to tear out a page and stick it right into your scrapbook later.

Bring: trimmer, scissors, black inkpad, paper scraps. (Some paper will be provided, but this is a great way to use up leftover bits & pieces from your favorites!)

The Incredible Shrinking Page

Small in size but big on fun, this 4x4 layout on a mini easel is adorable displayed on a shelf or table. You’ll create an embellished page featuring the latest scrapbooking trends in miniature, perfect for showcasing a school picture or any wallet-sized photo.

Bring: one 2x3 photo, scissors, and your favorite adhesive.

Wooden Photo Blocks

What a creative and cute way to decorate any shelf or nook! These blocks are fun and EASY! Great for gifts… Mother’s Day, Grandparents, Teachers…

Bring: 6 4x6 photos (I prefer them to be a theme… or coordinate in some way. I.e. All children, or all from one holiday, or all one color scheme… but it is totally up to you!), your favorite adhesive, scissors, and a pencil

Friends and Family

We encourage you to invite extended family and friends. This is a great time to spend with sisters, in-laws and friends who have moved away. The Palm Springs airport is less than a half hour away for those who want to fly in for the weekend! Let us know if you’d like assistance coordinating airport pickups or flight arraignments. We hope many of you will be able to join us this year for what promises to be a fantastic summer get-away!

Golf

Do you have a husband who would love to come along and golf? Golf packages are available for those interested. Golf rates are $50 a night and include one and a half days of unlimited golf for up to two people. (After 12:00 p.m. on the day of arrival, and all day the following day!) Save The Dates...

YEA!!! We are so excited to be hosting the 1st annual Palm Desert Craft and Crop Retreat. The retreat will be held at the Desert Springs JW Marriott in Palm Desert. We have been going to this hotel every summer for 21 years. We LOVE this hotel! The dates of the retreat will be August 6-10th. You may join us for as many or as few days as you can. There will be a 24 hour scrapbooking room, in addition to many arts and craft classes. Stay tuned to see samples and pricing of the classes offered. Invite your friends and neighbors.
